【摘要】:TheCleanWaterActpromulgatedtheimplementationofwaterqualitystandardsandcontaminationlimitsforawiderangeofpollutantsincludingoilandgrease.Specifically,theEPAprohibitsx201C;thedischargesofoilthatcauseafilmorsheenuponorcausediscolorationofthesurfaceofthewater.x201D;Severalstateandlocalagencieshaveadoptedthisstatementinadditiontosettingconcentrationlimits,thatis,15mg/Loreven5mg/L.Thepurposeofthispracticeistoevaluatetheperformanceofaseparatorinregardstotheregulationsanduserrequirements.Anotherpurposeofthispracticeistoestablishthataseparatorcontainingoilatitsratedcapacitywouldstillbecapableofmeetingtheabovecriteriawhensubjectedtorun-off.Thispracticeisnotapplicableiftheinfluenttoaseparatorcontainedasuddenreleaseasmuchhigherconcentrationswouldbeexpected.Forthiscase,seePracticeD6157.Thispracticeisnotapplicableiftheinfluenttoaseparatorisconveyedbyapumpingmeans.Thedatageneratedinthismethodisvalidfortheseparatorstestedonly.Theresultsofthesetestsmaybeextrapolatedtosmallerorlargersizeseparatorsprovidedthatapplicablegeometricanddynamicsimilitudearemaintained.Wheresoundengineeringmethodlimitstheuseofextrapolation,thatsizeunitmustbesubjectedtotesting.Theflowrateforallthetestsmustequalthemanufacturerrsquo;totalratedflowforthegivenseparatoratagiveninfluentcontaminationlevelandfortheselectedeffluentpeakcontaminationconcentration.1.1Thispracticecoverstheprocedure,anynecessaryrelatedapparatus,andthesamplingtechniquetobeusedindeterminingtheperformancecharacteristicsofoil/waterseparatorssubjectedtocontaminatedrun-off.1.2Thispracticedoesnotaddressthedeterminationoftheperformancecharacteristicsofanoil/waterseparatorsubjectedtothesuddenreleaseofarelativelylargequantityofhydrocarbonsthatmayappear,inpureformorathighconcentration,intheinfluenttotheseparator.Inthiscase,refertoPracticeD6157.1.3Thispracticedoesnotaddressthedeterminationoftheperformancecharacteristicsofanoil/waterseparatorsubjectedtoamechanicallyemulsifiedinfluentsuchasprovidedbyapump.1.4Thispracticedoesnotinvestigatetheabilityoftheseparatortohandledebrisorsuspendedsolids,thatis,gritortreeleaves.1.5Whiletheeffluentmaymeetcoderequirementsfortotaloilandgreasecontent,thispracticedoesnotaddressthepresenceofsolubleorganics,i.e.,Benzene,Toluene,Ethyl-benzeneandXylene(BTEX''s)whichmaybedetectedintheeffluent.Italsodoesnotmakeanyprovisionsfortheeffectsofdetergents,surfactants,soaps,oranywatersolublematter(thatis,salts),oranyportionofanessentiallyinsolublematterthatmaybefoundinsolutiononseparation.(Effectsofcertainwatersolublechemicalsorsolidsmaybeinvestigatedbyaddingthemtothewateratpredeterminedconstantconcentrations.)1.6Inordertoestimatetheeffectofwatertemperatureontheperformanceoftheseparator,thetestsdescribedinthispracticemustbeperformedattwowatertemperatures.Theselectedtemperaturesmustbeatleast10176;C(18176;F)apart,withthetemperaturerangingfromaminimumof0176;C(32176;F)toamaximumof50176;C(122176;F).1.7ThispracticedoesnotmakeanyprovisionsforthevariationofpHortemperatureduringatestrun.RefertoAppendixX1forfurtherdetail.1.8Thispracticecanbeusedwithavarietyofhydrocarbons.ItadoptsNo.2fueloilwithadensityof845kg/m3(52.73lbm/ft3)andaviscosit......
